This page exists so no claim on this site stands alone. Every statistic you see elsewhere on Road Monkies links back here — to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety, IARC on ultraviolet radiation, and peer-reviewed dermatology and public-health literature.
01 · Road Safety
Two-wheelers carry the largest share of India's road-crash burden. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways publishes an annual report; the WHO publishes a global counterpart. Both point in the same direction.
02 · UV & Skin
The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies solar ultraviolet radiation as carcinogenic to humans — the same category as tobacco smoke. Chronic outdoor exposure is the dominant preventable risk factor for non-melanoma skin cancer.
03 · Hair & Scalp
Prolonged helmet wear combines mechanical friction, scalp occlusion, and sweat retention. Dermatological literature documents these as contributors to traction and mixed-pattern hair loss, particularly in humid climates.
04 · Heat & Air
Commute hours coincide with peak temperature and peak particulate load in most Indian metros. Both are independently linked to cardiovascular and respiratory harm.
